Heavy metal poisoning nearly ended Brian "Killah B" Bates' career, but it became the turning point that changed his life.
Brian, a producer who has worked with Beyoncé and other major artists, joins Dr Daniel Pompa to share his journey from homelessness, addiction, and health collapse to purpose, faith, and healing. He reveals how hidden toxins, heavy metals, and chronic stress affected his health, and why finding the root cause transformed both his life and career.
The conversation also explores the music industry, resilience, gut health, cellular detox, and the lessons Brian learned while rebuilding from rock bottom. It is a powerful story of purpose, perseverance, and discovering that healing goes far beyond treating symptoms.

Holy Spirit And Pain To Purpose
SPEAKER_03
Honestly, it's a superpower to be able to experience the Holy Spirit because it is an abnormal level of spirituality that not everybody has a chance to feel.
Dr Pompa
Every time you're ready to step into the next promise God has for you, that's when the self-doubt, that's when Satan comes in. That's when the insecurities show up. That's when the self-doubt, that's when we get into our flesh, right?
SPEAKER_03
I just feel like even in my mistakes, the Lord literally uses them to propel me. Because after that, man, I just have never been the same. And just the way I learned just incredibly increased.
Dr Pompa
When I was sick, she was on her knees many times for our family, you know, because life as I know it came to a screeching halt. This one time God spoke to her and said, Not only am I going to get well, but I'm going to take a message of the world. You know, again, that victory God gave me is the authority.
SPEAKER_03
As soon as I touched the keyboard, I just felt like a matrix moment happened. Wow. Everything just slowed down. It was the first time I have ever felt immediately like, oh, this is what I'm supposed to do.
Dr Pompa
Pain to purpose, wait till you hear this story. Okay, my wife's sitting next to me. You know why? Because she literally talks to everybody on the streets of LA. She meets this guy, and now he's on my podcast. Well, he's here because of an incredible story.
SPEAKER_05
Because you changed his toilet paper.
Dr Pompa
Okay, all right. So that was a conversation. You know, he saw my post on Instagram. He changed his toilet paper. Yeah, I can't. And then I went after it. But it was his story that brought him here, and he's gonna inspire you as he did us. So Brian Bates, welcome.
SPEAKER_01
Thank you, man. Thank you guys for having me.
Dr Pompa
Pain to purpose, man.
SPEAKER_01
Absolutely. Absolutely.
Dr Pompa
You're an extraordinary human. That's why you're sitting in the chair. So much. Three percenters is what I call people like you. Yeah, 97%ers, you know, they uh they live life in effect, they blame others, the blah, blah, blah. But three percenters, man, we take our own blame, right? We put it upon ourselves. That's right. We don't look at the effects, we look for cause, and that's who you are.
SPEAKER_01
That's right.
Dr Pompa
So, anyways, but um but my wife, man, she just in an instant she knows people.
SPEAKER_03
Walking out, I was just stumbling out a nice guy and nice guys,
Meeting On The Streets Of LA
SPEAKER_03
and ironically, we're going to nice guys in LA tonight. That's amazing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Full circle tonight.
SPEAKER_02
Full circle moment. I love it. I want to I'm gonna take you back to the water.
SPEAKER_05
To your beginning. So that conversation.
Dr Pompa
Let's take them back on the conversation on the street, right?
SPEAKER_05
I I asked him, I said, Oh, well, I stated because you have a cross-mandur now. Okay, he said, Oh, you're a Christian. And you said, Oh yeah. You said, in fact, when I came here 12 years ago, I couldn't have imagined myself and as the valley was bringing up your G Wagon, right? I couldn't have imagined myself in a G Wagon. I was sleeping on these streets.
SPEAKER_01
Absolutely.
SPEAKER_05
And it was God alone who I can credit with where I am today. Absolutely. And you were there with a woman that you had just signed, or she had just hit her first top 40 hits. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh-huh. And you were celebrating. Yes. And I was just, ah, like I was so happy for you. And I wanted to hear more of the story. And I said to you, Oh my gosh, you would be such a great guest. From paid to purpose to promise. So tell us.
SPEAKER_03
Well, yeah, I mean, man, where do I start? Um, I, you know. How'd you grow up?
Chicago Childhood And Grandparents’ Rescue
SPEAKER_03
Well, I grew up in Chicago. So I grew up on the south side of Chicago. You know, my my parents, they they started off as drug addicts, and you know, they, you know, they both come from good homes, but the the environment was Chicago's an interesting place, especially when you're black and you grew up in this environment where everything is pushed on you to be this and be that, and especially if you don't have the resources. And my mother and father, they did the best they could. They eventually, you know, changed their life. He's an engineer now, and she she works in the medical field. But at the time when uh when I was young, you know, um, things were hard, and I ended up being adopted to my grandparents. And this is where um they groomed me and put me in piano, put me in chess, and they start changing a lot of these city ways that was, you know, in engulfed in me. And um, and and and it helped me build some some type of formal foundation that I would need for the world, you know. Um, but you know, as a kid, yeah, I grew up in Chicago, it was fun. And, you know, a lot of fights and you know, a lot of rough exterior stuff. And, you know, I never really knew anything outside of Chicago at the time. I just thought the whole world was like that. And my grandfather, he he had cancer about three times. The third time he caught cancer. He had a vision. He said he had a dream. He woke up and told my grandmother, I want to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He had heard about Albuquerque from one of his colleagues that the engineering job he had at uh Simeon High School in Chicago. And so he was obsessed with Albuquerque. He would go down there. I think he went and he they loved tennis. They would go, I think like Serena was playing down there one time, or one of the one of the tennis matches was down there. They flew down there to watch Serena and the scope of place that he would want to live. And next thing you know, no, they took us down there on a trip. It looked like a desolate place. It was nothing. I couldn't believe they wanted to move here. I was just like, Yeah, I'm not coming. So, you know, they were gonna wait till I graduated from high school, and I ended up getting into a fight, you know, angry kid around a bunch of other angry kids and bad combo. Bad combo. Next thing you know, my grandfather was like, Ruth, we we gotta get we gotta get this boy out of here so he can do music. We gotta get him out of Chicago. Whatever vision he had came straight from the Lord because this man was determined. He stopped taking chemotherapy, he drove us down, he packed us. My my my last fight in high school, he packed us up and said, This is the time. You know, the whole family, my me, my brother, my grandmother, everybody was looking at him like, are you crazy? You should be sitting down. And why are we going to New Mexico? There's nothing there. But, you know, it's just like when the Lord places something on your spirit, it's like a host. Like the Holy Spirit is like a host that takes over. There's nothing you can do about it. So true. And literally that's how he looked. As I'm in the back seat looking at him, driving, you know, young, like, wow, we really doing this.
SPEAKER_07
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
And um, it was the most, it was the biggest blessing of my life. You know, I I moved there, and literally a lot of my friends was getting, you know, murdered or going to prison. There's so many different friends that are completely different than how I am now. And he was able to see that I would be different. And I wasn't even producing music at the time. I was just a classically trained pianist and drummer. I just played drums in the church and I was classically trained, but you know, I was the guy that could be around the uh, you know, all the big hood guys, and then be around all the sophisticated people. So they kind of built me to be a chameleon, which later on is in the story, you'll see, you know, why I produce the type of music that I make. Because being on both sides and being a chameleon and kind of being adaptable is kind of how my life was built from the beginning. So from there I moved to God works all things out for the people. That's what I was just thinking about. Literally. Yeah. And um, yeah, I I get down there, I'm bored. Everybody's so nice. I'm completely not used to that.
Dr Pompa
Completely, I got some anger here I got to deal with.
SPEAKER_03
I'm like, I'm completely not used to people being nice. You grew up in a street.
Dr Pompa
Trying to start fights and people were a lot just too nice?
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, I mean, like in Chicago, you're looking at somebody too too hard or too long, it's like, you know, what's up? So I just wasn't used to just the kindness and the warm-heartedness. I it was something that I needed to heal that the Lord knew. And I literally switched all my friends with different races from different places, and I just had never been around anything else. And um, slowly but surely, the four years that I was there, it reshaped you know my entire existence. And I that's where I found myself. That's where I started producing music and because I was so bored. I had no distractions, zero, and and it was just I was depressed about my life, but I put everything into music and you know, I was born.
SPEAKER_06
Wow.
SPEAKER_03
And my grandmother started to see how passionate I was about it. It was the first time I was ever this passionate. And so she bought me a keyboard and started dumping.
SPEAKER_05
How old were you?
SPEAKER_03
About 16, I think. Okay. Yeah.
Dr Pompa
Yeah, so you walked into your more closer to your true identity, who God created you to be, is the way I describe it. And when when did you what would you say I became a true believer in Jesus?
SPEAKER_03
Oh, well, I became a believer at 12. I was baptized in like 12. So I've played drums in the church since I was six. Yeah I no, I've been blessed to have encountered the Holy Spirit two or three times in my life.
Dr Pompa
I want to hear those stories.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, I mean, like, you know, I was leading church one time and I was just singing um as one of the leads, and literally I just started crying and I could not control it, and I wasn't sad.
Dr Pompa
No, yeah, that's the Holy Spirit.
SPEAKER_03
It was crazy. I was just like embarrassed because I couldn't stop the tears from coming. It was just warm, crazy feeling in my chest, and everybody was consoling me, like, you alright? And I was just like, I'm not sure.
Dr Pompa
I I knew that I was gonna look over and see her cry. I love that.
SPEAKER_03
It was it was so beautiful. And the second time I had the Holy Spirit, I was living in the Bay Area and I lost my investors and my investment, and I was rock bottom. How old were you now? At this time. We missed that gap. I was 25. I hadn't got to that point. We interrupted. Yeah, go ahead, yeah.
Dr Pompa
Because I wanted to hear these two stories. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Exactly, exactly. Yeah. But I was about 25. I left Atlanta and I was in a Bay Area wanting to get here. I knew God told me to come to LA, but I went to the Bay first because I knew it would be my entryway. And I was in the bay, and literally I just I had stopped going to church around like 18 or 19 because I had gone to church almost my whole life, and I just felt like I needed to break what I really needed was my own personal reason to go seek the Lord and not just my parents tell me.
Dr Pompa
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
And it was just a natural cycle.
Dr Pompa
That that's that happens every kid. We watched our kids go through the same thing.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, natural cycle of of spiritual life and understanding why you need God.
SPEAKER_06
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Outside of your parents just pushing you there. And I I experienced the world on my own, still with God, still praying, but not necessarily engulfed in in that. And when everything was just back to rock bottom, God came to me and was like, all right, son, you done had a few years out there on your own. You ready to come back? And I heard him and I was like, you're right. Let me let me go. And I went to church, and normally I sit in the back, and but this time I sat in the front and I just got on my knees and and just start praying to God, asking God to just lift whatever was offering me. And I as I every tear that I was dropping, I could just feel this sense of just of just everything just lightening up. And it was just the craziest feeling, and I knew it was the Holy Spirit filling me up. And life didn't get easier after that, but what happened was my my spirit, my discernment got stronger. And it brought me back into, you know, God's warm embrace. And from there, man, I just, man, I just I just love the Lord so much because I've been saved so many times. And you know, honestly, it's a superpower to be able to experience the Holy Spirit because it is an abnormal level of spirituality that not everybody has a chance to feel. You know, everything you touch is cover. When the Holy Spirit comes into your life and just takes over your body, it's it's it's it's like you got paid. It's not you know, it's almost like you got paid or you got this superpower. And um it's it's just like when I go through life and
First Holy Spirit Encounters
SPEAKER_03
I meet certain people who don't have a certain sense of spiritual discernment, it always shows me like, wow, you haven't had a real encounter with the Lord. And I've had a few, and it's there's nothing better than it's sex. I don't care what energy, there's nothing that you can experience more than an actual encounter. Changes you forever. Forever.
Dr Pompa
Nothing like it. She had one.
SPEAKER_05
So so hold on, I want to hear. So when you were in Albuquerque, right? And you're playing the piano, you're that's all you have to do.
The Church Studio Matrix Moment
SPEAKER_05
So what happens?
SPEAKER_03
So yeah, I'm gonna be basically my grandfather, he died three months into moving there. He moved us there.
SPEAKER_06
Wow.
SPEAKER_03
He was tired of suffering from chemotherapy. Uh-huh. Um, and before he died, he forced me. So basically, the the church that I played drums for. The synchronicity is crazy. It just so happened that the church, the pastor of the church grew up with my grandfather, with my father. He grew up with my grandfather, my father in the in the uh, and my grandfather, I guess, in the same projects in Chicago when they had the projects up. And when they went down there, it just so happened that the church owners were from Chicago.
SPEAKER_05
Oh wow.
SPEAKER_03
So it was crazy. So that was the first sign. I was like, whoa, how did y'all meet somebody from where we were? When there's nobody here.
SPEAKER_05
There's nobody here to meet.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, so I was kind of blown away by that. And then the second thing, the drummer, which name was Brian, also was leaving to move to Oakland to play for a bigger church, and they needed a new drummer.
SPEAKER_06
Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_03
I walk in the door, and my grandfather forces me, he said, You finna play for this church. And I was just like, I'm tired of playing for churches. No, you finna do this. And he he forces me to play drums for the church, which is became a blessing. And um, if he never would have forced me to play drums, I never would have been a producer. He died right after that. And the there was an audio room in the back of this uh of the church, and I used to always like hear like little instruments because I just was an instrumentalist. I actually didn't know anything about programming, quantization, reverb, or anything like technical as far as production. And so one day I go back and I see the drummer that's about to leave, he's making a beat on this rolling XP 80 keyboard, and I'm just blown away, like, oh, that's how you make beats. And he's looking at me like I'm an idiot. Like you you play drum, you play piano and drums, you you can do this with your hands tied. You just gotta learn the technicalities. Come sit down and mess with it. And as soon as I touched the keyboard, I just felt like a matrix moment happened. Wow. Everything just slowed down.
SPEAKER_06
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
It was the first time I have ever felt immediately like, oh, this is what I'm supposed to do. Wow. Immediately.
SPEAKER_06
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
I had never felt in love with nothing like that fast. And from that point on, I asked the pastor if if I could, you know, you don't have to pay me, I'll play drums for the church. If if I could just practice back here.
SPEAKER_05
And you still not use that equipment.
SPEAKER_03
He gave me a key, and I was there every day, 12 hours, every day if I wasn't in school, practicing every day.
SPEAKER_05
Wow.
SPEAKER_03
In the back of that church. Wow.
SPEAKER_05
And you were 16, 17 years old. 16, 17.
SPEAKER_03
By this time I was turning 17.
Drugs, Raids, And A Narrow Escape
SPEAKER_03
Still in high school and graduated from high school, moved away from making music for a while, and I was uh, you know, back to my old ways, selling drugs for a second because I didn't want to work for anybody. It was really the fact that I I knew that I wasn't supposed to work for anybody. I knew that I was destined for something better. And I I didn't take orders well.
SPEAKER_05
You got a few of you at my house.
Dr Pompa
You two have a lot in common.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, and including a couple of her kids.
Dr Pompa
Including that you uh you your grandfather impacted her, led her to the Lord. Wow. Same with yours. Wow. Yeah, you're not gonna be.
SPEAKER_05
And I don't take orders well either. I'm still waiting to find my purpose.
SPEAKER_02
No, but she was raised by her grandpa. Yeah. Wow. That's why I have a you have that wisdom. I get that. The odor wisdom.
SPEAKER_05
I love old men too. I mean, I do. I do. I do. I love old, don't I? I mean, I do. Because it is and I love old women.
SPEAKER_03
I mean, I love Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
I'm an old soul.
SPEAKER_03
Well, age comes wisdom, so that's yeah, that's definitely why. Yeah.
Dr Pompa
So back to drugs then. So tell take us through that. Back to all the time.
SPEAKER_03
You know, I became a a a drug dealer for a couple years and I was In Albuquerque. In Albuquerque.
SPEAKER_05
Okay.
SPEAKER_03
You know, got in, I got connected with the Mexican mafia and was moving around doing different stuff. And man, the Lord was even covering me then. Oh, yeah.
Dr Pompa
I look back, and the Lord covered me at some you know, some hard times.
SPEAKER_03
He never sold drugs, but hard times. I mean, I only did it because I didn't want to work for anybody. I was making way more money doing it. I was at Pizza at first, and I was like, I was at Golden Corral before that. I was at TJI Fridays before that. I was like, oh, then I went to college for a second. I just didn't have the mind and the patience and the discipline that I have now to go back to, you know, to go to school.
SPEAKER_05
You need to meet a couple of my boys. You've got a lot in common with them too.
SPEAKER_03
So literally, I, you know, I took my my financial aid money, bought some drugs, sold it, made so much money, was walking around with big wives for a couple years. The police chased me a couple times, but never caught me. It was always like almost, um, and the thing that took me out of that story was I got my apartment got raided by by the police. And um, basically my roommate, he sold drugs to an undercover cop that lived in the apartment complex.
SPEAKER_05
Oh shit.
SPEAKER_03
And I had this keen sense that the Lord always gave me, and it always protected me. And I knew to take, for some reason, I knew to take all of my money and drugs out of the apartment and bury it for whatever reason. Wow. And then one of my boys that worked for me selling drugs, he worked for this company that took care of like mentally retarded adults. It had the, you know, the mind frame of like a 15-year-old. And so he, you know, he was like, you know, why don't you come and work for us during the daytime? I know you need something to show some, you know, legit. Up front, you know. I said, perfect. I went, I applied for the job. I met his boss, his boss is named Kelly, great woman. Um, six months almost to the date that I applied for that job, they called me to come and do a final interview, and I got the job that day. Within five minutes of me pulling out of the apartment complex, little did I know the beds were coming in to raid my apartment. Wow.
SPEAKER_05
That's gonna be and your stuff's in the ground.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah. Craziness. Wow. They give my roommate, he does like, I don't know, eight or nine years. The place is in my name, but I'm not caught in possession. I didn't know the law. I had to be caught in possession. So I'm scared thinking that they finna get me. But they really would just went around to all of my friends and and and places where I knew to ask questions about me, but they couldn't get anything on me. I made a friend with the security guard at the front gate. I for some reason I just knew to give him drugs, money, whatever. Months before to have my back, I didn't think I was gonna actually need him. Sure enough, when so I pull up to the job, the fur the job that I had, and the you know, my boy who was my boss, I was his boss in the streets, but he was my boss at the job. And he, you know, I get out the car, shake his hand, he on the phone with somebody, and one of my friends had just got out of jail and went to my place to check on me. I don't know if he told or what happened, but pretty much my the guy who got me the job said he went from like this to face dropped as I'm coming in and shake his hand. And I and I was like, my stomach just immediately everything dropped in my stomach. Because I kind of knew, but I didn't know details. He hangs the phone up, he said, Don't go back to your apartment. They just raided your apartment. I was like, What? So I he clocks me in. It's my first day. I drive past my apartment and I see them taking my roommate out, and I'm like, okay, this is real. Wow. So I wait, I let two hours pass. I set sit there and I pull up to the gate. And the the gate guy is a good friend of mine. He was just like, Look, you got 30 minutes. I'm supposed to let them know when you come and there's an undercover that is living right next to you guys. That's how you got caught.
SPEAKER_06
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
You got 30 minutes to go in and get all your stuff. It's gonna take you a few days, but you gotta come in and come out and get your stuff. I went in, went out. Every time I would come in and leave, I sat and you will see the police come. What's interesting is though, when I went in, they placed drugs in places that me and him never had it. And it was the first time I saw, like, yo, they really will plant things on you.
SPEAKER_06
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
They they just want to get arrest.
Dr Pompa
Yeah, they come out and be like, here it is, okay, take them.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, that they had it under the for whatever reason, this keen sense. I knew to check for our places. I checked under the toilet bowl, I checked in the freezer, I was like, huh, they were really trying to catch me. Shoot. Okay, yeah, let me get out of here. So I the the last day was a Thursday. I packed all my stuff. I embarrassed my grandmother at church, the whole town knew about it. And I completely wiped my hands clean of that. Started over and was like, okay, it's time to go back to music. God literally spared me. And my father called me and was like, hey son, you know, I understand you're trying to make money. You know, we raise you in church and we raise you better than that. You know that you contributed to the damnation of someone when you're doing that. All of those rappers you listen to, everybody who's promoting that, not only are they gonna pay for that, but you're gonna pay for that because you contributed to the damnation of someone.
SPEAKER_06
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
And growing up, we never Have the best relationship, but when he said that it hit home, and it was like one of the first pieces of advice that he gave me that really made me look at him like uh you really my father. Wow. And um it that changed the course of my entire life. Wow. I went, I I I had a friend of mine that was one of my clients. I was used to sell drugs to him, and he used to always tell me, man, why don't you go back to doing music, man? You were so good. You like you one of the best dudes ever. And I was just like, I don't make no money. I mean, where why am I doing music? I mean Albuquerque, bro. And he believed in me so hard. He heard about everything, and he called me up and said, Hey, I got this dude that's in the military that wants to invest. You should come. And I wanted to move to Atlanta. I wanted to come here first, but I knew Atlanta would be a lot cheaper. And the music scene was just kind of blowing up. So I went to meet
Atlanta Breakthrough And Industry Reality
SPEAKER_03
him. We devised a plan three months from then. He flew me. I moved to Atlanta. Flew me to Atlanta.
SPEAKER_05
Is this Tupac days?
SPEAKER_03
Um, no, it's not I'm not that old.
SPEAKER_05
You're really old. She's old. Because Tupac was in Atlanta when we were in Atlanta. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02
I don't think I was born then. Maybe I was five or six. When were you born? 1986.
SPEAKER_05
Oh, okay. I I graduated from high school in 85. Okay. Okay. Okay, okay. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, like, um, yeah, I get to Atlanta, and the guy that, you know, had the investor, he had been hyping my head up, telling me that this this team called the track killers, this is where I get my name Killer B from Brian Killer B base. Track killers, they kill tracks, kill beats. They were known all around Atlanta in the scene. Um, and he was telling me that they knew about me and heard my music. I moved about nine bags, I get to the airport, we get off the plane, and one of the guys from the track killers team pulls up to pick him up and didn't know I was there, didn't know I was even coming. But the guy who bought me there was hyping me up, telling me that he knew I was coming, just to get me out of my comfort zone and get me to Atlanta. He believed in me so much.
SPEAKER_05
Wow, cool.
SPEAKER_03
And I was just like, bro, you got me here and they don't even know I'm here. And he pushes me to the to the wall and says, Listen, you the future. Just trust me. Just trust me. I know I didn't tell you the truth. I'm telling you, you the future. And I'm sitting here like, okay. So the dude who pulls up, he's like, I don't know him. So y'all gonna have to take the bus to the house and we figure it out. There was another guy that was leading the track killers, just so happened to be from Albuquerque. He moved to Atlanta when he was 13. And had we had heard about each other in passing, but I didn't know this was him. He comes to the house and gets off work as soon as I play my beats. Now, mind you, these guys are more advanced than me. I'm still in the keyboard. They're in they're already in Pro 2s, they're already in Q Bays, Nuendo, they're already making music on computers. I'm making my 16 track beats in a small keyboard, and when I press play on my music, it's blowing theirs out the water.
SPEAKER_06
Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Within three hours, they offer me 33 and a third of the company.
SPEAKER_05
Wow.
SPEAKER_03
And says, you can live with us. It's it's no re nowhere to, you know, to stay, pick a spot on the floor, but we get up and we work every day. You're the future. We need you here. He was right.
Dr Pompa
Wow.
SPEAKER_03
That's God. And that's my situation.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, these are divine appointments one after the other.
Dr Pompa
How did you end up from Atlanta to uh LA?
SPEAKER_03
You know, Atlanta, I I navigated Atlanta for a while. I was, you know, I was in that situation with the trap killers for a while, and uh, you know, then I was homeless for a while out there, and then um, you know, they have family, so a lot of them they would just go back to their families when we run out of money. And I was living in hotels and stuff, and then I was living in this like warehouse, super small room, eating maybe two or three times a day, uh, two to the times a week, maybe. Uh yeah, you know, have stretch marks on the side of my stomach from gaining and left weight. You know, it was uh, I was it was so many toxins in there. I didn't know anything about health back then.
Dr Pompa
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
And um, I started to look get sick and look sick, and they start, you know, they would come from their family's home to to visit me because I was the only one that didn't have family. You know, when when things went bad, they would all just, you know, go to go to mom and dad or go, you know, go to their family's house. I I was so hungry and determined that I was willing to take any condition to not live a regular life. I was willing to go through whatever to get good and to practice. If I didn't eat, I didn't care about eating. I didn't care about sleeping. I didn't care about living anywhere. I literally, it was just so much burning fire desire in me to just make it and want to be good and not just make it, but actually be great in my craft.
SPEAKER_06
Wow.
SPEAKER_03
So I was taking on a lot of things and I started getting sick and looking sick, and they started suggesting I go back home. And I and one day my grandmother calls me, which is the light of my life, and she asked me, Hey baby, how's everything going? And I start telling her what's going on, and she was like, Let me let me book you a ticket home just for a few days, and you can get back out there and fight. I come back home, and literally that morning, I get there that night, that morning I'm talking to her and I'm just rubbing right here, and my
Homelessness, Seizure, Then Another Chance
SPEAKER_03
eyes could not open up. It was almost like somebody was shining a light right here, where the sun was right here, and within five seconds, I woke up in the ambulance. I had a vicious seizure.
SPEAKER_05
Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, and it was from, you know, I was depleted in all sorts of ways because that's how that's how determined I was and how much I was dealing with, you know, and it was so crazy. I didn't think that would happen.
SPEAKER_05
Stress bucket overflowed.
SPEAKER_03
Literally.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
And I, you know, I I ended up moving to Texas for six months, trying to make some shit work. And after that, um, I got a call from this investor guy who had heard my music. And he was just like, B, I need you to come back to Atlanta. I I need these, I need, I need, I need you to run this production team. I need you, let's, like, let's, let's, let's win. I got the money. I got your house. And I didn't believe it at first. You know, long story short, I ended up taking him up on his offer. He moved me back to Atlanta. I'm in this mansion on Cambleton Road. I got a car. I mean, like, changed everything. I mean, he was, they ended up, he ended up bringing in this other investor named Jeff Woods. Shout out to Jeff Woods, by the way. He owned the second largest black-owned construction company in America. He helped rebuild New Orleans after Katrina. He was rebuilding Atlanta, and he was like a, you know, an uncle or father figure to me, took me under his wing, and they both partnered up to invest in me and the track killers. They moved us in these beautiful townhomes and on the west side of Atlanta, and they bought a club, and all of the richest people in the city was hanging out with them, the athletes and the models, and um pretty.
Dr Pompa
What was the date around that? What was that?
SPEAKER_03
This was this was 2008, 2009. Okay. Because I moved to Atlanta in 2007.
Dr Pompa
So then, so that was Atlanta. And then I left Atlanta. Now you got some success under your belt.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah. I ended up leaving Atlanta.
Dr Pompa
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
I lost those investors, moved to the Bay, um, was homeless in the Bay for a while. I had another investor that heard my music, pulled me out of homelessness in the Bay.
unknown
Wow.
SPEAKER_03
No contract, no agreement, just for whatever reason, you know, the Bible said your gift will make room for you. And literally, however bad it was, at some point it got that good or even double. And I had an investor there, and you know, after a year working with him, his dream was to bring the industry to the bay, and then I God told me to come here. And so I gave him all his money back, cars back, gave him everything back, and was just like, God told me to leave. And I I can't be here anymore, even if I'm homeless. I know I'm supposed to be in LA. Called
LA Hustle, Placements, And Going Pop
SPEAKER_03
someone that I knew to drive me down here. I had $300 in my pocket. She just bought me calling people on the way here to see who I know, and that's how I got here.
Dr Pompa
Wow. Okay, how long ago was that?
SPEAKER_03
This was what 2012, 2013.
Dr Pompa
Wow. Okay, so then tell the story here because the story here is even crazier.
unknown
Okay.
SPEAKER_03
I get here and my investor, his daughter, his sister, basically used to work in the music industry with Jimmy Iveen and a bunch of, you know, Big Bob and a bunch of different people. And so she had connections. Every time she would come up for a holiday when I was living in his house in the bay, me and her would really connect because he didn't know anything about the music. I did and she did. So we would laugh about different people that we knew. So when I went down there, I was asking them if I could stay with them. Her and her husband was fighting. Turns out my investor's money actually came from his mother. His mother owned a huge recycling company in the Bay. So she calls me and says, Hey, I'm the one who's actually making investments into you, not my son. And so I was like, oh, okay. She was like, I need you to do something for me. My daughter and her husband are fighting, and I want to protect my my grandfather, my grandchild and my daughter. Can you go check on them? I go check on them at City Walk. Um, and when I get there, they're having drinks, laughing it up. So I was like, okay, they're they're good. Next thing you know, she flies down from the base, about a 45-minute flight. And um, she gets there, and we all get in the car, everybody's happy. Next thing you know, the couples they did start fighting. Because I thought I didn't know what she was talking about. They started fighting hard, and you know, I get in the middle and break it up, and next thing you know, you know, they call the police on him, he leaves, I go upstairs with them, and basically she's like, Look, I know you don't have a place to stay. I need eyes and ears on my daughter and my granddaughter. You can stay here for free, just watch them. And I went and got a job at um, where was uh Saddle Ranch when Saddle Ranch was at City Wall. So I was at Saddle Ranch, I'm staying there, figuring it out. She's introducing me to people. I was there for about a year, and then I just moved around LA, Inglewood. I lived in all Nooks and Crannies. I used to sleep at the IHOP.
SPEAKER_05
Nooks and crannies.
SPEAKER_03
I slept at the IHOP a couple times on sunset. Oh didn't have anywhere to go. Yeah, um, I had a lawyer friend of mine who I was introduced to now. He's a great guy, Brandon. He wanted to get in the music industry, and I was introduced to him, and he wanted to leave. I think he was in like civil law, and he wanted to kind of, you know, learn from somebody in the industry. And so he let me live with him for eight months. And he taught me music industry law, and I taught him pretty much, you know, how the music industry goes from the creative side. And I just moved around, man, bounced around. I started going out and just inserting myself in all the parties and the clubs, and really just from grassroots ground up, introducing myself, walking up to strangers and random people who I felt like had money or or had some type of entry way to help me. And over time, I started meeting the right people and just hustling as hard as I could and being visible and staying out in people's faces. And that went from me building a name to me getting some type of stability here and to me getting my first apartment to then, you know, me being known fully in the music industry. I, you know, I got a couple placements with Chris Brown and Seventh Streeter and other people. And and then from there, I started doing the same thing with the Grammy parties and all the big, big music industry parties. I start sneaking into the war shows, sneaking into the BMI wars, sneaking into all these different things and kind of forcing my way in because people won't let you in.
Dr Pompa
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
And from there, big executives start seeing me at every party and start saying, like, hey, I see you all the time. Right.
SPEAKER_05
What's your story? Yeah, yeah. And therefore, our son just had that experience this weekend, but that's important to do.
SPEAKER_03
No, you have to, man. You have to, and it's like the more people see you.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, so he's not in music, but it's just the point. He understands the value of being seen.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, you have to be seen, and that materialized in the business. And that's how I met this guy, man. You know, I was beating his phone down for six months when he was working at Universal Republic. And after about six months, he uh he finally uh invited me to come through and I played him uh some music and he was just like, well, you know, because I you know, by this time I had transitioned from urban to doing pop. Not because I wanted to leave rap and RB, but because I had realized, you know, if it's more money in pop and these other genres, but also outside of that, if I want to truly stand out, I have to be, I have to be doing things differently. You're not gonna expect a black guy to be making this type of music. And that's the wow factor that I want to create. And so when, you know, when I went in, I was sitting in his office, I'm playing him stuff, and he's like, Man, where did you grow up? I, you know, he expected me to have RB and hip hop, and I'm playing pop and EDM and other stuff that I've done, rock music. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
So look at those fingers too, right? I mean, you gotta you look at them. They're look at them. I mean, I know those are piano fingers. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_03
Keyboard fingers. Yeah, he put me in some good positions, and I ended up getting some of my first big placements with him.
SPEAKER_05
And uh So I don't know who he is.
SPEAKER_03
He's my day-to-day manager. Yeah, I am. Absolutely. Okay, yeah. Awesome.
SPEAKER_05
Does he manage other people also?
Dr Pompa
Um, yeah. Uh-huh. Okay. And then, so now, you know, what's your role here? Because you were helping that that woman out. So, kind of what's your business now?
SPEAKER_03
Well, now I ended up finding a manager and I partnered these two together. Um, she's my like more of my business manager and HR stuff. She she had a daughter that just would not leave us alone about making music. And I told her to go.
SPEAKER_05
Seems like the story of your life, by the way. Yeah. Would not leave us alone to make music, right?
SPEAKER_03
So I, you know, I said, you need to go hustle like I did. Go make, go learn and go hone your craft and then come back. She did that and she came back and she sounded amazing. And so she convinced me and her mother, which was my manager, to take her serious. And so we started doing pop music on her because she's a black girl, and you know, we always want to create a wow factor, nothing that's expected. And she's doing straight down the middle pop, but she looks like this, but her music sounds like this, that makes it interesting. And we started getting all types of just attention from everywhere.
SPEAKER_06
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
And then, you know, then we signed her, and and now we're like, she she had her first big record independent that was on top 40, top 40 uh BDS, top 40 radio, right? Uh a media base, sorry. Um, the only independent artist that wasn't signed with uh a top 40 media base record, and that's really hard to do, you know. So we were celebrating that when I met you out. That's great. Yeah. Yeah.
Dr Pompa
That's awesome. So yeah, I mean, so now, I mean, you're still making your own music. Absolutely. Where can people hear this? Where where do people find your stuff?
SPEAKER_03
Well, I'm so my stuff is all over the internet. You can you can Google my name and see how I've worked with Beyoncé. I co-wrote.
Dr Pompa
But it's I was I Brian Bates, but your your real name, I mean music name is Killer B.
SPEAKER_03
Killer B, Brian Killer B. Bates. And Killer B means I kill it everything in life. Yeah, killer. Kill it everything. Yes. Yeah. Okay. But Yeah, I you can find you could just Google my name. I co-wrote and and I produce Texas Hold'em for Beyonce. I I I produce positions by Ariana Grande and a few other records. You know, um, I'm working on my producer album right now as well. So, you know, stay tuned for that. That's the next big thing.
Dr Pompa
So you produce a lot of things, you know, in the background. Your music's on the background, a lot of things, which people don't know. Exactly. So guys like you kinda, you know, you're not the one out front oftentimes.
SPEAKER_03
Well, now I will be. You will be now. I I think I've uh I've done my work in the dark, and now it's time for me to step in the light.
Dr Pompa
It's there's literally what's your manager say about that? Is he stepping in? Without a doubt.
SPEAKER_00
The world is yet to see uh what Brian Bates has to offer. Yeah. Not only as a creative, but you know, as a big brand. Yeah. And I think the next chapter of his career and life, we're gonna really tap into his brand and who he is. And so so that not only on the music side, people can identify him, but also, you know, his fitness lifestyle, you know, his his his spirituality. We want to make sure we tap into every as uh every aspect of his life and build on him as a whole.
Dr Pompa
Aaron Ross Powell He's brandable. You know, it's like I I just have these I I know people, I know marketing, I know, you know, you're brandable, man, you know, and like you are. Your story. I you know, I I lectured in um Africa a few times, and this one first time I was there, uh, there was a guy who was a very prominent man in Zimbabwe. I mean, there was at that time, there was Mingabe, the evil power, and there was Gatsy. And he put on one of the largest leadership conferences from presidents around um Africa. And I'm lecturing there. And I had first time with an interpreter. And so I'm, you know, lecturing, doing my thing. And then afterwards, I see Gatsy just beelining straight down for the stage. And I was like, because he was such a man of power when you're you're in his presence. And I'm thinking, what did I say? I'm like, it must have been the interpreter. What did I say? But he said this to me, and I say it to you as well. He said, Dr. Pompa, don't ever forget your authority comes from the victory God gave you. Wow. And then he walked away. And I'm like, what do you mean by that? Like, what did I say? Something wrong. I I processed it and it never really made sense too much later. Wow. You know, everything in my life, you know, really the authority I sit here with is the victory God gave me. Wow. You know, matter of fact, my wife, when I was sick, my dog has to protect the room. Um, when I was sick, uh, you know, she was on her knees many times for our family, you know, because life as I know it came to a screeching halt. And um, this one time God spoke to her and said, Not only am I going to get well, but I'm gonna take a message of the world. You know, again, that victory God gave me is in the authority. You're everything you do, you just keep telling that story. You know, because I'm telling you, to keep telling a story, bring it out because it it's what people are attracted to, right? You know what I'm saying? I mean, there's a lot of talent out there, right? You know, you know that. It's like, but man, your story is what makes it so unique. Yeah, you know, and you always be who you are, always glorify the Lord, always put him first and watch what he does. Because I heard that story. I'm telling you, it was only God that got you here. You know, it's only God. And that's what you said. Yeah. That's why I wanted to hear more. Exactly.
SPEAKER_05
And and I think as we look around at what's going on in our world right now, it's it for it's never been darker. And so, but how God is showing up is has never been brighter. Man. And he's looking for people that are willing to stand in that gap. And he's using us.
SPEAKER_03
Absolutely.
SPEAKER_05
And and I, I mean, and you can just feel it. So when I met, we met you, I just felt it. Yeah, man. I just knew. I just knew that your story and your there it does, it's that thing that you just know that you know. And I just knew that I knew. And and you instantly, you had no reservation about saying, absolutely, I'm a Christian. I would not be where I am if it would hadn't been the Lord that saved me and put me right here and blessed me. And he keeps blessing me, and I'm here celebrating. And I love that. Like, I just like that's what we should be doing as his children. We should be celebrating.
Dr Pompa
The moment you glorify them, boom. Yeah. Favor came to your way. Favor came to your way. Here you sit here telling your story to millions of people, right? Yeah. Favor came your way just like that because you glorified him, right? Don't ever not. So let's move in. You said something, uh, your manager said, you know, part of your brand is your your health thing now. Yeah.
Toxins, Heavy Metals, And Gut Overgrowth
Dr Pompa
So I mean, tell us that story. How did you end up? Because I remembered that on the street when you were like that. I'm like, all right, well, that kind of makes sense too to have him on the podcast. Yeah. Tell me more.
SPEAKER_03
Well, it's so interesting, man. Um, man, God is just a character. Like, it's so crazy. I mean, like, the amount of things that I've been pulled in to be used for is and this is one of them. I never thought I would be so interested in health. But when I got first introduced by this guy who was like a self-proclaimed oxygen therapy consultant, and he first taught me about how oxygen, you know, an oxygenated environment, a disease can't thrive in. And I was like 22, and so I went cold turkey, um, alkaline vegan in Atlanta on on this journey that I was telling you about. Um, because um I just felt like I needed to upgrade my health. I I had like this gut that wouldn't go away, and I knew like it was something in my diet. So I I never really was introduced to not eating meat. And so when they were talking to me about it, I was like, This sounds crazy, but you look amazing. And he had this glow on him. So I tried it and literally within a month, I mean, I lost so much weight and I just felt so clear, like plaque. I didn't even know it was over my eyes, was removed. I could think faster. I didn't have morning breath. My stool didn't have a smell. So many things changed. And I was just like, yo, are we supposed to be eating meat? Cause this is crazy. And and I did that for years on and off. And um I moved here. And obviously when you're dealing with homelessness, you can't keep that stuff up. And you're not necessarily thinking about being your healthiest. So you just trying to get through each day. But I always knew that at some point I would, you know, come back to it. And um when my life changed, and I, you know, I put out a few hits, I made some money, and I started actually investing in my health. Throughout the time, God has sent me videos on Instagram and different people introducing me to different tests to take that they didn't teach us in school on how to actually monitor what's going on inside. So when I actually got the money, I started using that to start taking these tests. And I took the first test that I took was this test called a biomarker test. The reason why I was driven to that test was because I had hired a trainer and I was training so hard and my body wasn't changing. And I had people in the gym coming up to me that like ja, the super fit, and they're like telling me, you know, like, man, you train so hard, man. Like, I need to train like you. Why your body not changing though? You should look incredible. You need a little healthy meat. According to you, you know, according to and at that time I started back eating meat for the nutrients because I knew I was, you know, deficient in nutrients and I didn't know how to supplement with vegan protein and other vegan, other stuff that you need that that meat gives you.
Dr Pompa
Um it's it's and again, it's if you eat God's meat God's way, you know, cows are meant to eat grass. Totally different than conventional meat that has hormones, antibiotics, you know. It's like conventional milk, right? It's one of the most toxic things on the planet. I was a vegan for a while. Raw raw, real dairy, God's way. Exactly. One of the healthiest things on the whole planet.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
But it takes a period of time, right, to before you start feeling that you're falling apart.
SPEAKER_03
You know, like you can we were Well, even the dairy, like when I took the dairy out of my diet, um, it's it's um, and I don't know, maybe it was because I would it wasn't raw dairy, but definitely I had I always had more mucus with dairy and and and this is little white balls that used to be in the back of my throat.
Dr Pompa
Well, pasteurized and homogenized dairy has problems, right? So Right.
SPEAKER_03
And so that's probably what it was. I wasn't fully educated for sure. And I went on a journey, I I let all of it go, and then I started coming back to some of it, but the right stuff, the properly, you know, like the kefir and stuff like that. That's good for gut health. But I um I literally told my trainer, I said, bro, it's not the training, it's not my diet, I'm not cheating. Because he would think I was cheating, I would come back the next week and my stomach would be even bigger. But I ate clean exactly the way he had me eat. Little did I know I had food sensitivities. I was sure, you know, I I went and took the biomarker test and I found out I had five times the allowed arsenic level of arsenic poisoning. I had all these different uh heavy metals in my blood. Um they tested me for uh microplastics, they tested me for um um they tested my my heart. I had early early heart disease. Uh um I was on track for it actually. I didn't actually have it, but I was on track for what they call it, my LPL or LDL levels or something like that, um, was was off the off the chain. And they also uh found um uh a lot of toxins and myc mycotoxins is what they call it, mycotoxins in my body and a bunch of different toxins, just so many different things internally that was blocking me, and I didn't know heavy metals stop you from absorbing nutrients.
Dr Pompa
Oh, yeah. They block even your own minerals. By the way, this is the problem with your generation, the even the younger generation. The reason chronic disease has gone like this in the last 50, 60 years is because the level of toxins that your generation is exposed to, like no time in history.
SPEAKER_03
Literally. Yeah. And it it's killed me off uh in a sense because I was like, wow, how did I get this sick and I didn't feel it? You know, and it really started from when I was a kid. That's right. You know, it didn't just start now, that's right. It was a buildup. It accumulated time.
Dr Pompa
People think, oh, all of a sudden you got sick. No, no, no. Womb to the tomb. You know, you start accumulating these toxins, they store up in your tissue, in your cells, your brain, and all of a sudden your brain fell. All of a sudden, you know, all of a sudden your gut goes. Exactly. And it didn't happen last week.
SPEAKER_03
No, it literally. And I I grew up eating fruities, chews, and candies, and pops, and and and fish sticks, and you know, all the hood foods, and just constantly, just nothing nutritious. Like my family didn't understand nutrition. My the whole neighborhood, nobody around me knew what actual nutrition was. Even just cooked food at home, they all thought that just because you buy it from the store and you're cooking it fresh, that it's healthy, but that's not healthy. It's just a better version of dog food. It's not actually healthy, it's not optimal health at all.
Dr Pompa
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
And so, you know, over time, like you said, it accumulated. And after I took the test and went down the test, I just started to realize, like, okay, I need to see specialists. I don't need to go to a doctor, I need to see either a scientist or a specialist who can actually tell me what's going on internally and not prescribe me something. And the first thing I went out went and found this gut doctor. And he was also a nutritionist. And, you know, he taught me that, you know, I took, you know, the test that he gave me, and they found out that I had uh this this bacteria in my gut in my upper intestines. I think it's called IMO or something like that. I for I forgot the the full term or IMS or something.
Dr Pompa
In your upper intestines?
SPEAKER_03
Upper intestines.
Dr Pompa
It was uh it's it's it's uh I'm actually still If it's in the upper intestines, they call it just small intestinal bacteria overgrowth, SIBO.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, it was they it was SIBO, but they had another name for it. It was a different name, but it was the same, meant the same thing. Yeah. And basically, um that was the first thing that they found, and basically he was saying that um I took a breathing test.
Dr Pompa
Yeah, that's how you diagnose. Yeah, I never even heard about this.
SPEAKER_03
I took a breath test, and he said, Well, yeah, you know, a lot of gut bacteria doesn't just come from food, it comes from just the environment. And you could have just been, you know, in a crazy place. That's what created that bloating, by the way, you were getting. Exactly. And um, so yeah, I took this test and he put me on a a completely different regimen, and I didn't know that even f sugar from fruits, certain fruits could contribute to, you know, and feed the yeast and the gut bacteria. And so everything that I was eating just was puffed my stomach.
Dr Pompa
And by the way, some even healthy garlic and onions can feed. And you think you're intolerant, but it's really it's the fiber feeding the bacteria and ferment causing a fermentation.
SPEAKER_03
Exactly. And not in cucumbers, you know, I I couldn't eat cucumbers, salmon, and also uh I had a permeable hole in my intestines, also as well, that I'm still in the process. I'm um I'm at the end of it now. I have like three three months left before I I'm complete with this part of the regimen.
Dr Pompa
Listen, I I want to put you in my program because what I've taught doctors for 20 some years is how to detox people at the cellular level. You've accumulated so many toxins, but you don't get at it just sitting in a sauna, right? And all these, you know, all these things that people do to detox. Um, it really is fixing your cell and getting your cells to start unloading toxins.
SPEAKER_03
Mitochondria.
Dr Pompa
Yeah, it's all part of it. And it's all part of what I teach, but you need that. Yeah because as you deal with the and by the way, the our my program teaches you the process so you can actually do it long enough to matter. Wow. It took you how many, how old are you?
SPEAKER_03
39.
Dr Pompa
39, 39 years of accumulating toxins. And you're right, from the womb to the tomb. You got your first toxic load in utero from your mom, who was toxic.
SPEAKER_01
Exactly.
Dr Pompa
And then you just don't, and it already slowed down your cell pathways to get rid of toxins. Wow. So you started life slower, exactly, and then you start accumulating, and all of a sudden you hit your, you know, today kids hit their 20s and 30s, and they're like, bad gut, exactly, food intolerance, gluten intolerance, no energy, brain fault, need marijuana just to get their brain alive.
SPEAKER_03
I mean, I, you know, that was me, huge gluten intolerance. And it's so interesting you say that I I was as I was learning about this, I started learning a little bit about epigenetics and how your environment can affect your DNA. And literally, that's exactly what happened with me. My environment manipulated my DNA. It really started from the womb, like you said, yeah, my mother uh not being healthy, and and I had some challenges growing up mentally and even uh learning because of these things. And I knew something was off and I didn't have the knowledge to kind of pinpoint it. I will say this though. One thing that helped me, my my my you know, my brain was taking shrooms. When I started doing chocolate shrooms, I don't know what happened, but literally I was able to just download information.
SPEAKER_05
Is this like a micro dose or is this a full on? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Well, the first the first time I did a full on. The first time I did a full eighth in the studio and literally just back thoughts that I could not develop, which just became so clear. I mean, everything became so clear, and I was never the same after that. I literally could just just download the process way faster. I mean, like ideas just come way faster.
Dr Pompa
Well, the microdose does that for a brain. You know, it's like the microdose.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, but this was the first thing.
Dr Pompa
Yeah, I know, I know, exactly. But small doses, you know, is it literally, you know, can hyperfocus. Yeah, yeah, hyper focus.
SPEAKER_03
I just feel like even in my mistakes, the Lord literally uses them to propel me. Because after that, man, I just have never been the same. And just the way I learned just incredibly increased after that in a way that I didn't know.
SPEAKER_05
Clearly, you're special.
SPEAKER_03
So, yeah, man, I and that's why I was so attracted to to following pages like yours, because after this gut thing and after this, you know, going vegan thing, and learning a little bit about the the health of the cell and healing from a cellular level, like it's like my heart and my being is just being pulled this direction. And I used to look like a completely different person, much more heavier. And me learning a little bit about healing the cells and and me understanding that if you do that, you even will change your look, how you look at it. Exactly right. How attractive you are and your glow, you would look differently. People, some people are not ugly or fat. You're you're just unhealthy at a cellular level. That's right. And it's altered your your physical features. Yeah. You don't even know it.
Dr Pompa
It it's so true. I I just a couple weeks ago was uh Lant Dr. Lannon Pryor, he does X plants and he takes breast implants out for people who are unhealthy because of the uh breast implants called BII, breast implant illness. And we watched an actual surgery, but I met all these women in the office that were pained to purpose. I mean, they were there because their life transformed from this guy, right? And these implants came out and they get their lives back. But they were showing me pictures of themselves. This was me. And this was like 10 years ago, right? It's like, and I'm like, that's you? Wow. Like I mean, bags under the eyes. I mean, the hair was like she was like, that's how sick I was. And like, look at her now. I'm like, oh my God, I can't even believe it's the same person, right? Wow. Yeah. I mean, but you're right. Like when people get toxic and ill, uh, all the Botox, all the things, all the it's all for nothing, man. Chemicals sick. Sick is not pretty. No, it's not pretty. Sick is not pretty. That's a good line. I love that. Sick is not pretty. Yeah. Exactly. Well, it's funny because I had a conversation with a woman in the office. She got the true story, she got her breast implants out because of Dr. Lannham prior, and she got her life back. She went full autoimmune. Now, keep in mind, she had him in for I think 12 years, maybe more. Wow. And no problems. Then she gets sick. So it was hard for him to convince her it was this because she's like, Well, I've had him in for all this time. Why now? He's explained to her, your bucket overflowed now, right? Your immune system started attacking him. She gets him out, left the office, a new person. Wow. Here's the bet here's the best part of the story, though. So she gets him back in. She gets sick. Even she said she left the office sick. She thought it was just the surgery, the stress of the surgery. She never lifted. And I was sick from that day forward. I think she lasted six months, had to take them out again, left healthy again. You know, felt like a new person. Here's the crazy part of the story. She was like, I'm thinking about getting them back in. Oh my God. My jaw dropped. I'm like, are you kidding me? Like, you know, what do you think's gonna be different this time? The point was she didn't like herself. It's an identity issue. She didn't like herself without it, right? So she was in this identity struggle. But I I said to her then, that's when I came up with that line, I'm like, sick's not pretty. Meaning, like, you think you're prettier with them, but like, you know, exactly. You actually show me those pictures of who you are, you're going back there. It's not pretty. But yeah, I mean, it's it's when you lose your health, man, you lose everything. But you know, I want to say this before I lose it. God has a purpose getting your health back because he knows if you don't do this stuff, all this, you know, everything you take as a child, right? Everything you've done is accumulated. He knows that he has to deal with that because he's got a plan for you here.
SPEAKER_01
Exactly.
Dr Pompa
You know, I mean, it it's you're smart hitching your wagon to this guy because God has a plan for you. He has favor in your life. I receive. You know, yes, sir. Uh it's in so much so that he's making sure that sick isn't, you know, gonna keep you from being pretty because what you're doing, you have to look the role. You have to be the role. I have to. You know, it's like, and and there was no place for you being sick because he's got great purpose for you. And and your story is going to impact so many young people. Your story is gonna impact that's maybe the only reason why he'll give you success. Right. It's not about you.
SPEAKER_03
Exactly. It's not about me. It's not. That's and that's what but he will use you. Of course. I'm gonna enjoy it, but it's to use it to bless other people. That's what that's literally what blessings are for. Yeah, it's so interesting. Uh it's mind-blowing, though, how how much toxicity lives around us. And when I actually opened my eyes, I was just kind of blown away. Like, are you kidding me? Everything is set up for you to fail. Everything is set up for you to die early. Satan's world. Literally, we're in Satan's world. I mean, like, and I don't think people I try to tell my team and my family, they try to open your eyes like everything around you is toxic. Your paper towels, your tissue, your new clothes, the new towels you buy. I mean, the water that's coming out of your faucet, the water you're washing your clothes in. I mean, not just the food, uh, the stuff you're cleaning your house with. You have to actually engulf yourself into the lifestyle of relearning. It's not just a few things you change. Either you change all of this or be okay with being sick because one or two things isn't gonna make a huge difference in in the current scheme of things.
Dr Pompa
It's changed so much in the last 20 years, man. I mean, that's why health, thyroid conditions, hormone conditions. When you go to Italy, they eat a lot of pasta and bread and things like that, but you don't see fat people, right? No. Well, unless they're Americans, right? And then you know the Americans. There's there's the Taurus right there. But it's like, what is the difference? The difference is the level of toxins that they're not exposed to there. Wow. And it's massively different. Wow. And it's it's the amount of toxins that we are, it's around us. Unfortunately, you said you're talking to your family about that, your team about that. They say, you know what they say though? Yeah, but what can we do about it? Or yeah, but it's everywhere. Exactly. Yeah, but you know, I feel okay for now. But it's like, but they don't understand what's happened in 20 years. It's different. Exactly. My kids are facing stuff that we never faced. You know, we were never exposed to these chemicals. We were never exposed to it.
SPEAKER_03
Wow. And I mean, and not only that too, I mean, you don't really know how well the quality of life, how better your quality of life could be if if you actually envision envision something better, then you'll be driven to actually take time to study and realize all the toxins around you. You know, once you ex once you experience a better you, you you don't want to go back there.
SPEAKER_06
That's true.
SPEAKER_03
You don't want to, you, you like, oh, I can look better, I could feel better, I could possibly look 20 or 30 years younger, I could possibly reverse the age of my cells or reverse the age of some organs.
Dr Pompa
That's it, Bronz. I mean If I took somebody, let's say we took your team who doesn't listen to you, maybe some do. This guy hopefully does. Anyway, and we put them on this uh, you know, we brought them to our little retreat camp for a month. They would go, oh my gosh, I I didn't know that I wasn't functioning at a normal level. I didn't know my brain could fix, I didn't know this ex. Oh, wow, stars look like that. I'm telling you, life would open up to them again. But people just don't know because they've been living down here instead of up here. Exactly. But if you pulled them out of their toxic environment, forced them to eat a different diet, detox them correctly, they would open up to a whole new life. Whole new life. They wouldn't need all their stimulants, they wouldn't need the you know, Gatorades or whatever they're doing, their energy drinks.
SPEAKER_03
You're not living for real. You haven't even met your true self without toxins. And that's how that's how I view it. Like this is more of who I really am. I I that old guy is not really well, that's not me.
Dr Pompa
Yeah. For you, that means a lot, right? What's your next, what's your next big vision? Where do you see yourself next? And what timeline are you giving yourself?
SPEAKER_05
I have a question before we move on from the diet. Are you still a vegan?
SPEAKER_03
No. No, no, no. I do, I do uh I do I do like uh grass-fed steak maybe twice a week.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03
I I still like not eating meat every day. I I feel lighter and for whatever reason, and maybe you can tell me, but I look aggressively younger when I don't eat meat.
Dr Pompa
You you probably have low HCL Um because of the microbiome issue. And low HCL means you're not breaking it down well. Um so uh yeah, I would until that fit that's why I'm gonna get you in my program, but until that gets better, you know, sticking to lighter meats, eggs, do you take digestive enzymes too?
SPEAKER_05
Because that's probably super helpful.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah. Well, I I was taking the digestive enzymes and the gut health doctor, um, he put me on this crazy protocol, which is it definitely has been helping uh tremendously. But I'm just curious to to see what you're saying.
Dr Pompa
Well, here's the thing. Finish with him, and then I'm gonna move you into my program. Okay because that that's dealing with emptying your bucket, meaning you've accumulated all these toxins, your bucket was overflowing. We need to empty that. Yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
And will the SIBO, is he telling you the SIBO will.
SPEAKER_03
Well, what he did was actually he put me on something that he knew would work to get me to a certain place until the test results came back where he knew exactly what was going on. Right. And I think now he's gonna remove all of that and put me on something specific for what the test says. Okay. Because I had to send So that's where you're at. And that's where I'm at, yeah.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, well, that's no, that was your question.
New Vision For Music And Biotech
Dr Pompa
Okay, so your your next big goal, your vision, what do you see yourself in the next year, two years, five years?
SPEAKER_03
Well, my next vision is obviously I have music running. I'm working on my producer uh project. Um hopeful, not hopefully, I will be best new artist 20, 20, uh, 2020 uh 27, 2027 as a producer artist. But I think what I'm really uh uh uh focused on and excited about now is is emerging the creative side and health and coming into the music industry and you know, pulling people where I don't know nowhere near as much as you, but I know greatly much more than the average person in my in my field. And so kind of pulling them over here because the sleeve desights, the toxic living is literally killing the creativity, and we don't have to be overweight and we don't have to be unhealthy making music and we don't have to be unhealthy with, you know, or making all of this money. And it's just me just talking to a few big heads, a few big people, everybody's the biggest executives, they're all interested. None of them are they don't even have everyone's interested now. They don't even know about, you know, uh uh you know, re you know, coming in and and reversing the age of sales or you know, uh um just preventative health. They don't understand anything, anything of the sort. So I think, you know, one of my callings is to be in this industry and to pull people into this, you know. And I I I I have this name for a company called Nex Nexa Nex Nexa Nexa Health, pretty much. And it's it's I'm thinking like biotech, some b something in biotech is what I'm really interested in. I want to merge merge the tech and bioworld. And I see it's like one of the leading um industries right now is biotech is figuring out a way where maybe you could use your phone to scan for food sensitivities, use your phone to scan for biomarkers and then send it into a lab and they could do further things.
Dr Pompa
Oh yeah, that's all that's all right around the bed.
SPEAKER_03
That's all right around.
Dr Pompa
Yeah, absolutely. There's no I have to introduce him to Sanjay. But uh, you know, he's uh developed these cell factors and uh you know he's on the cutting edge of so much of that technology, too.
SPEAKER_03
So yeah, got God is pulling me to learn more about this and being more I'm just my heart is just in love with this stuff.
Dr Pompa
Hell, I gotta get you on one of the Maha calls. Okay. Yeah, just coming from your industry. And um, you know, I just think because here's what God does. Because of your industry, God takes you to the top there. Now it's provides the platform and the voice to speak to these things that you know he wants you to speak to. Exactly. Yeah, and and that's what he's doing. So he put the he puts the desires in our heart. Exactly. And he put that desire in your heart. Yes.
SPEAKER_07
Right?
Dr Pompa
And he's giving you the favor over here. Exactly. He's gonna take you to that level. And then he's gonna say, okay, now I want you to, you know, tell kids this. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03
And that's why I met you guys. That's when I first saw you and saw you. Literally the first thing in my head was like, wow, this was a sign, this is another sign that I'm going in the right direction. This is exactly where I'm supposed to be going into this health thing.
Dr Pompa
Yeah, you wouldn't be here otherwise.
SPEAKER_03
I wouldn't be here. Yeah. Literally. Exactly.
Dr Pompa
Yeah. Wow. Yeah, exactly. I maybe I'm part of that, you know, part of that that God's using to bring you, you know, I believe so. Or allow you to bring that message.
SPEAKER_03
I I believe so, man. I believe so. Because I've been looking at your stuff for a couple years, like, man, this guy's incredible. Yes, yes. Every video, yes. Oh, I'm changing that. Yeah, I'm gonna do that right now.
SPEAKER_05
Three percent or full circle. You can't not God, you can't not be used when God has a plan for your life. Literally. You just hang on and go for the ride. Go for the ride. Absolutely. And just and just say yes to him, obviously. And no to the devil.
SPEAKER_03
Obviously, yeah.
SPEAKER_05
Right. But I mean, that's it's so true because there's there's that force that tries to interfere with the body.
Dr Pompa
Which mom always say about the devil? He ain't lazy. He's not sleeping, and he's not lazy.
SPEAKER_05
Have you seen the 95-year-old black woman on? Watch the podcast.
Dr Pompa
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05
She's our mama. Yeah, she calls herself.
Dr Pompa
She says she's our black grandma. That's what she's saying. 95. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
And she is, I mean, we trade we should call her now.
SPEAKER_03
That's amazing. Call her now.
Dr Pompa
Go ahead and call her. Yes, no, no. She is something else. You gotta watch her podcast. You gotta watch her podcast because she, when I was sick, uh I had this would happen periodically. This time I had this excruciating pain because, like you, man, I had all kinds of bad things going on in the gut and beyond. And uh it was so bad. I said to her, if this gets worse, you're you're gonna have to take me to the hospital. For me to say that, it was I'm scared now. Yeah, she that puts fear in me. Because she knew I could I could lob off my arm. I'd be like, you know what, I'll get I'll fix this, you know. Yeah, it's like I was not a hospital goer, especially with my condition, because at that point I was looked at as I'm crazy. So it's like for me to go there, it was not good. Wow. So, anyways, so she calls mom porter. Mom Porter drives over from the ghetto in Pittsburgh, okay, and she drives into our neighborhood at 12 o'clock at midnight. She tells the story better than I do. And, you know, the police pull her over because they're like, What's this old black woman doing around here? She must be long. So they pull her over. Can I help you, ma'am? She's like, I'm here to help Dr. Bomba. Okay, where's he live? Okay, we'll take you there. So they escort her to my house. Wow. Okay. She comes in, she lays hands on me, and I felt it. It was like, I mean, you feel it leave. You know, it wasn't like, hey, I feel a little better right now. No, no, no. It left and I was healed with that, right? You know, and it never did return. But, you know, that was Mom Porter in our life. And um, she's been a part of our still is. Gosh, what do you do? What was the date there? 2003, maybe.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, about two about 2000. We were, oh yeah, that was early on. She got about 2003. She has been in our life.
SPEAKER_02
She's anointed. She has been. Oh, she's anointed.
SPEAKER_05
She's on you know, five prayer lines a day. Wow.
Dr Pompa
If I connect you to her, if you have anything going on, you have you call mom porter and mom porter prays. And and and God loves mom porter. You should hear her story. Wow. Yeah, it's on the podcast. I'm gonna watch it after rather than it's not. It's like, but I mean, God has given her great favor, and her, you know, she's alive because of what God is still doing through her. She's still traveling around praying for people. She lays hands on people, you know, people get healed. And she's a prayer warrior. She's not a good one.
SPEAKER_05
She has a book called May I Pray With You?
Dr Pompa
95 years old, you know, still doesn't wear glasses, and you know, and still traveling.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, she had LASIK in like 1994 or something. Right. That was it. She's all good.
Dr Pompa
She lives in a bad part of town, right? Where it like kind of place where you grew up, and like no one messes with mom porters now. Like, you know, it's like you go, my gosh, like someone might do something. They know. No, no. They know. Wow.
SPEAKER_05
Yeah, yeah. She's loved. Yeah, she is loved, cared for.
SPEAKER_03
That's amazing.
Dr Pompa
Yeah, she's a prayer warrior.
Be Strong And Courageous
Dr Pompa
But yeah, it's you know, it's um God takes our pain, gives us a purpose.
SPEAKER_01
Yes.
Dr Pompa
But our mantra is pain to purpose to a promise. Because when you look at it, there's a promise God gave you even back then. Matter of fact, your grandfather saw the promise because he said, you know, God gave him that vision of moving to Albuquerque. That was all about the promise God had for you about in music. Absolutely. That's a promise. Your grandfather, he anchored into that promise.
SPEAKER_06
Absolutely.
Dr Pompa
You didn't even know it was a promise until you know, whenever you said maybe it was that time you were like, This is it, right? But pain to purpose, the promise. And you know, our message is you have to you have to anchor and you have to ask God for those promises. And and that's what you hold on. Her promise that God gave her that I'm gonna take a message to the world. My answer to that was I didn't want to hear that. I can't even get myself well. But that promise she held on to. Wow. This year, my oldest son said I held on to that promise. When I heard mom say that, it's like I knew it was gonna be okay. Wow. Right. So the promises are what God gives us where he's taking it. And here's the thing there's still yet another promise for you. And I always speak this about every time you're ready to step into the next promise God has for you. That's when the self-doubt, that's when Satan comes in, that's when the insecurities show up, that's when the self-doubt, that's when we get into our flesh, right?
SPEAKER_01
Absolutely.
Dr Pompa
But God sends every in bib when you look through your Bible, there's three Hebrew words that God sends somebody to speak to the person who He wants to take that step into the promise. And I'm gonna speak them to you right now. Okay. It's Rak Kazakh's. The English translation is be strong and courageous. So if you search your Bible or everywhere it says be strong and courageous, the real message is Rak Kazakhmatz. And that means God stepped into the promise for you. Wow. Every fear you have, he deals with. It's his strength, not your strength. So here Jordan or here Israel's crossing the Jordan, just one example of many. And all they saw was 31 armies that were taking them out. They were making excuses there. And Joshua's pulling his hair out, and God spoke through Joshua to them, Ra Kazakhamatz, Israel, meaning, I'll take care of your enemies. Trust me, I'll deal with it. Right. So as you're heading into new territory, oftentimes enemy territory, you have a war cry. The war cry is Rak Kazakhamatz. Rak Kazakhts. You know, because you're gonna end, you're in spiritual territory. You know, you're gonna be changing young people's lives with the story he gave you, with the authority he's given you. And you're gonna need that war cry. Rakhazakamatz. And immediately it takes the focus off of you and puts it on him and he's doing through you. And then you remind yourself that you don't have to figure it out. You don't have to do it, you don't have to be good enough. He's good enough.
SPEAKER_03
So Rakazakamat's Rakhazakamat's amazing. That's the real killer beast. I'll send you a video.
SPEAKER_05
Please send me that. Yeah, I will. It's amazing. It's yeah.
Dr Pompa
Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
And you need mom porter.
Dr Pompa
We gotta put mom porter in your life. We gotta get your program because we're we're we're we're anchoring to you, man. You're taking it. You're taking it. It's fun to watch. Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_05
So fun to watch. Just love these stories.
Dr Pompa
I'm gonna say this to your manager. What do you see for this him in the next five years?
SPEAKER_00
In the next five years, uh, I really see him exploding on his health, fitness side. You know, we're gonna do more when it comes to him, more podcasts, more people hearing the story. And then the other side is the music. You know, we're gonna dive fully face him, face first, his artist project, him writing and producing more big hits. It's so funny. I I tell him like, well, about every other year you get a number one. So that would be that would mean we're due for what? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's a bit of it. And um, you know, just him growing as an individual. You know, I'm uh I'm a firm believer of growth. So that that's that pretty much sums it up.
SPEAKER_06
Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05
And God always makes up for lost times. Yeah, man.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, he does.
SPEAKER_05
And he restores everything that the the the locusts have eaten and the the canker worm destroyed, right? Yeah. He does. He does. I mean, and like mom says, he's the only one that can unscramble eggs.
SPEAKER_03
Man, be unscrambled your eggs, mine too. Completely unscrambled mine. I'm not in control of anything. I just get word from the spirit. Where where should I go? Where should I walk? Sometimes I'm just getting dressed and my underwear just randomly matches my clothes. I don't even try. It's so much synchronicity around. And I just notice it like.
SPEAKER_05
Man, I wish I'd have to try for that. I'd have her for that. But mine has to match my clothes, right? I'm not getting dressed.
Dr Pompa
If I didn't have her, that's why God would be like, I gotta do that for you, too. I gotta do that for you. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
A little OCD about certain things. That's one of them.
Advice For Kids And Parents
Dr Pompa
I I know a lot of parents, especially moms, are gonna want to send this to their kids, send it to your kids. Um, what do you want to say to them?
SPEAKER_03
Man, um, I just with to the kids or to the moms.
Dr Pompa
Yeah, let's talk to the kids.
SPEAKER_03
Kids out there, you know. I think um I think you should try to be sensitive to your spirit because you have a pure spirit, a pure soul right now, and this is the best time to build a relationship with the Lord. This is when I built my relationship when I was a kid, uh why I was able to take this on with me as an adult. And it was so much power that I possessed. Because of that, I was able to manifest, uh take on harsh conditions and also manifest what I want. And um, I think um that's why the enemy attacks kids when they're when they're young, because your heart is the purest. But when you're a kid is when you need to lean into the Lord more because you gain a certain protection and a certain um covering that you get because you're pure, you're so pure right now, you don't want to squander that purity. So build on that purity, build on that connection with the Lord now.
SPEAKER_05
Yes.
SPEAKER_03
For you for later, is what I would say. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05
And I and I would tell the moms, you know, pray for your children. I mean, there's a lot of things that I didn't do right or well. I did the best I could with what I understood to do.
SPEAKER_03
Every parent does, yeah.
SPEAKER_05
But but truly I will tell you unequivocally that the reason my kids are where they are in life is because we prayed. And we said, Lord, you love them more than we do. They are yours first. They are not, they are yours first. And and I really b fully believe that that it that commitment to prayer for your children, God hears it. Absolutely. And he honors it.
SPEAKER_03
He does. Prayer moves. That's a prayer move. Prayer moves mountains.
SPEAKER_05
That's right. And it's a combination that doesn't quit. Exactly. The the child being bent toward trusting in God and the mother being committed and the the father being committed to him.
Dr Pompa
Absolutely. Remind them where they find you, man. Give them all your places. And uh yeah, right here.
SPEAKER_03
You can find me on Instagram. Uh it's just killer be um at Instagram, um, K-I-L-L-A-H-B. You can find me there. Or you could just Google me and find me anywhere on the internet, just Killer B at Killer B.
Dr Pompa
Yep. Or Brian Bates, does that get you? Brian Bates.
SPEAKER_03
Brian Killerby Bates. Yes. Brian Killerby Bates. There's a lot of Brian Bates, so definitely Brian Killer B. I put the, not I didn't put the E R, I put the A-H at the end to make it more a little more Hebrew. Yeah. A little more Hebrew.
SPEAKER_05
That's another conversation. Yes. Amen.
Dr Pompa
Oh man. Hey, bro, thank you. Thanks for coming on, man. What a story. I knew you two would be in tears.
SPEAKER_05
