Why Obesity Is Surging

Why is America fat? Do you know that one out of five kids in this country is obese? Is it just as simple as the fact that they're spending too much time in front of their phones and computers? I think that's a problem, by the way. Uh, do I think that they should get outside and play? Yeah. But here's the reality. My kids sat inside at their darn computers, at which I kept telling them, get outside, get outside, uh, just like other kids, but they weren't fat because, see, my kids definitely weren't eating certain things and they were eating certain things. So we're gonna talk about that. The fact is, is I think kids should get outside. I do. And there's all kinds of benefits that I think there's a problem with screens. I think there's a problem with their brain. But see, it's not as simple as just moving more. I believe ultimately this generation of children is being exposed to things that we were never exposed to, at least people out there that are my age, uh, that we have seen what's happened to kids in this country. Weight Loss Resistance Defined

weight. Because you know why, for the first time in history, we have something called weight loss resistance. You know what that means? That means despite changing your diet, eating what we would call a perfect diet and exercising, you still don't lose weight. Okay, that's weight loss resistance. What's causing that? I'm gonna tell you what's causing it, and I'm gonna tell you what to do about it. Um, so this applies to children. This topic applies uh to adults as well. But I want to show you something
Leptin And The Brain Signal

first. I drew this as an explanation of something. And I hope we can focus in on see that little stick figure in there. Maybe my camera editors can um blow this up. Okay, this is a little stick figure. But what I showed here is as we accumulate fat cells, those cells, uh the more of them we get, they produce a hormone called leptin. So imagine the more fat cells we start to get, I'm drawing it in the belly, but that could be anywhere, the more of this hormone that we make. Now, the hormone's job is to tell us that, hey, stop eating because we're getting too many fat cells. Oh, and also start burning the fat for energy because we're getting a lot of fat cells. So the hormone signals a place in the brain called the hypothalamus that signals our body to slow down eating and to burn more fat. But what if something's interfering with that hormone?
Toxins That Block Hormone Receptors

Well, there's specific toxins that do just that at the hypothalamus in the brain and also in the cells anywhere in our body. See, because if our cells, I'm gonna draw a cell where that has receptors to hormones is being blocked, that hormone can't get its message in the cell. Whether it's leptin, whether it's insulin, testosterone, estrogen, doesn't matter. And oftentimes we try to make up those hormones in the blood, but I can tell you that hormones don't work in the blood, they work at the cell. And when they get their message in, all is well. And by the way, the reason why we have weight loss resistance for the first time in humanity, it's not a food problem, is as much as it is a hormone problem. Hold there for a second because I am going to talk about the food problem, but it really is a hormone problem. But it's certain chemicals, keep that in your mind, that are blocking the hormones. And I just gave you one example of how this cycle keeps us lean even as we get older. Doesn't matter. When our hormones are working, we have feedback mechanisms to keep us lean and healthy and plenty of energy. But the problem is, is something can block those hormones. Certain toxins do just that. The massive exposure to microplastics, forever chemicals, heavy metals. Oh, and by the way, you know, one of the first signs of someone being in a moldy house, unknowing to them, is that they gain weight suddenly. Oh, and yeah, they can't lose it. They become weight loss resistance. Why? Because it's shown, it's not my opinion, that mold produces a biotoxin, nasty toxin, that blunts these leptin receptors in the hypothalamus. So, yes, mold, a biotoxin, can block the receptors to leptin, the hormone that tells us to stop eating and also to burn fat. So that hormone can keep us lean. And by the way, insulin is a fat-storing hormone. That one biotoxin from mold can also blunt and damage insulin receptors. It can also blunt and damage estrogen receptors, testosterone receptors. So when we're told that we have the lowest testosterone in the history of humanity, is it the fact that we're just broken now or toxins breaking us? See, I believe toxins are why our cells can't hear hormones. Toxins are why that we're too fat and don't have energy and our brains aren't working.
Ultra-Processed Food Means Chemicals

So when you hear, I'm on the Maha board and I'm blessed to be there, but I'm constantly reminding people that we hear a lot about ultra-processed food is why kids are getting obese. One in five kids are obese, by the way, right now. Ultra processed food is why we're all becoming fat. But listen, I am 60 years old. I grew up in an Italian family that ate white bread, white rice, white pasta, a lot of white processed foods. So where were the fat people then? Where were the fat children? We didn't have any in our class. Where were they? Where were the autistic children? Where were the asthma kids? Oh, there might have been some, but not like today. You all know that's true. And we were eating processed food. So what is ultra-processed food that we know is leading to obesity? Well, I can tell you this it has the same three ingredients that we were eating as kids. The white bread, the white pasta, ultra-processed food, it's not whiter bread. It's not whiter pasta. Do you understand? It's the same three ingredients with ingredients this long. So, what are the other ingredients? Chemicals. That's the point I'm making. The reason why you can't control your appetite, the reason why you fail on diets, it's not your fault. The mechanism's broke. Your cells can't hear your hormones, so therefore you can't stop eating. You desire carbohydrates and sugar. Your body doesn't get the signal to burn fat for energy, so you don't stay lean. See, when you don't have toxins blocking those hormone receptors, you sleep through the night and you wake up leaner in the morning because your body needed energy, so it burns fat. Oh, and when you're not eating, your body starts burning its fat because of some hormones like leptin that tell you to burn fat. Oh, and you start producing more fat cells, and your body says, burn them up because it sends a signal. Your brain picks up the signal and says, burn those fat cells for energy, and it utilizes the energy. Oh, and so guess what? You're not hungry all the time. See, because many of you would say, I have to eat every three hours, every four hours, and you eat three, four, five, six, you snack all day long. That's a hormone problem. But most often it's driven by the very toxins that are in ultra-processed food. So, yeah, don't eat ultra-processed food. Don't feed your kids anything with a list of ingredients like that. And yes, you find it in Whole Foods and other health food stores. So you have to read ingredients. The more basic the food, the better. And listen, I don't, I'm okay with eating pasta, which has probably two or three ingredients. And that's it. Or how about white bread, that three ingredient bread, right? It's typically, and I recommend the organic because if it's not organic, it has a chemical called glyphosate. And by the way, there's chemicals that aren't even on the label today. So, yes, organic is a big part of staying lean. You didn't think of that, but it's true because that one chemical causes people to gain weight. But the fact is, is that all of the chemicals in the processed food are driving us to not hear our hormones. They're driving this problem called weight loss resistance, and we need to avoid them. So absolutely, we don't want to eat all of these ingredients this long. We want to eat the three ingredients. And yes, I'm okay with the three ingredient bread, organic sourdough, and it's typically just some uh yeast, uh, organic grain, um, and that's pretty much it, water and maybe some sea salt. So that's the way we used to eat it as kids. That's the way we should be eating it now. Can you get healthy or get stay healthy eating that? You can. It's the chemicals. I want to say this, but I'm not gonna say this, but it's the chemicals, stupid. Meaning, like what? Of course it is. It's the chemicals of why we have chronic disease surging in children. You know, my generation of children is the first generation to not outlive their parents. It's not because of them just eating processed foods, it's all of the chemicals of why cancer rates from 1970 have risen 67%. The chemicals. That's what an ultra-processed food is. All right, I
GLP-1 Weight Loss Drug Warnings

know. GLP ones, oh, they're the miracle. All my friends are losing weight. They look skinny again. It's the answer. Oh, and I've even heard if you take low dose, it's even healthier and better. Okay, well, you think the bottom's not going to fall out of this? It already is. Billions of dollars of lawsuits already. Eye problems, kidney problems, gastroparesis, meaning the stomach isn't emptying, causing problems. Oh, but low dose is safer. Oh, it just takes longer. The fact is, is depending on what studies you look at, what, a uh a quarter, 40%, 50% of the weight loss is muscle, which lowers metabolism, which is making it impossible for people to come off of these drugs. You think that this bottom isn't gonna fall out? Sure it is. But I feel better. I literally was just um at a uh a party with people talking to people, and I'm telling you, almost everyone around me was on GLP ones, just touting their benefits. They feel so good for now until they don't. And one person in the group already stated it stopped working for me. And now I so I came off. Problem is gaining weight back. And yes, you gain weight back four times as fast when you come off. So now they're stuck on these things. Oh, and when they do come off, because now they have other health conditions because of it and problems. And what happens? Well, they now are skinny fat. They've lost their muscle and they get fat. So without their clothes on, unfortunately in the mirror, they look even worse. GLP ones were heading for a disaster. Look, do I rec do I would I say that it's bad for everybody? If you're morbidly obese and massive risk for heart attacks or stroke, I would say it could be a uh it could be a win for you because the uh benefits could outweigh the risks. So the fact is, is that those are the people that perhaps it could be for. But for most people taking it, not a big fan. Listen, I
Safer Alternatives And Where To Start

did a podcast, look for it. I interviewed a guy named Lance Converse. Um he started a company called Tonum. Uh, it's T-O-N-U-M Tonum. And you can go to Tonum.com, but there's a product that's competing with GLP ones right now. And again, not selling it, go there and get it. Um, but their research out of Duke University, 10-year study, they have a brain product, but they have a metabolism product that is working. And I'm gonna say this, they're not claiming it better than GLP ones, better because you actually don't lose muscle. But it was equal in the amount of weight lost without the risk. So um I know because people will say, Dr. Pop, but I need something, I need some help here. So maybe try their product, it might be a good benefit. But look, fact is, is you have to get to the toxins. Uh, if you don't get to the toxins, listen, if you go, um matter of fact, if you just go to POPA program, I've done a lot of different teachings on this topic of how hormones have to connect into your cells and what you can do about it. I've taught doctors for 20 years how to do detox at the cellular level to fix these um hormone receptor problems. Uh, this is my passion because I learned about it from my own pain. I was very sick and it led me to everything that I've been teaching for 20 years. But metabolism, this weight loss resistance problem, it is a toxic issue. Where do you start? Start by going organic. If you can't eat all organic, eat from the clean 15, avoid the dirty dozen. Google it, it'll tell you what those foods are. But I can tell you this that if you go all organic, avoiding the toxins, avoid ultra-processed foods. Don't give your kids any list of ingredients. If you can't read it, don't eat it. And if you start there, watch what happens. Add resistive training, burst training, as I call it. And that's even a double bonus. So there's the real answer to why people are gaining weight, why people can't lose weight. And I gave you some tips.
