Why Sick Homes Go Unnoticed
Dr Pompa
Most people today don't feel well because of a building unknowing to them making them sick. And that building is typically their sick home. That's right. But here's the problem: they don't know how to test for it properly because most testing comes back inaccurate. Well, in this series, you're gonna learn how to test your home and your building the correct way, the, I believe, the only way. And more importantly, what you can actually do to it to make it safe again. All your answers are going to come into this series. The reason I wanted to do a series is because there's so many pitfalls along the way to being in a safe home. And look, you're going to learn why it causes thyroid problems, brain fog, anxiety, unexplainable gut problems, unexplainable weight gains, inability to lose weight, hormone disruption, everything that people are battling today, it can in fact be a sick home. So we better know how to test. We better know how to even deal with getting the toxins out of our own body, and we better know how to absolutely remediate it, meaning correct it from the beginning to the end. So that's what this series is about. It's going to be a series that's going to change a lot of lives, and it's going to be a series that exposes a lot of problems that need to be exposed. So you're going to want to share it, but enjoy it. Here we go. Let's go.
The Symptom Pattern That Points
Dr Pompa
Could the reason that you can't make it through a day without normal energy, or the reason you don't sleep well at night, keep waking up in the middle of the night, or have brain fog, anxiety, a thyroid problem, adrenal problems, gut problems, all be related to this one thing? The answer is yes. And I have found well over 20 years of teaching doctors dealing with very sick and challenged people that look for an answer, unexplainable illness. I can't figure it out. I've done everything, Doc. I've taken every supplement, I've done every exercise program, I've done it all. Oh, and I can't even lose weight and I'm gaining weight and I eat better than all my friends. Okay, I have found this one thing to be the cause. And if you deal with it correctly, be the answer. The problem is, this one thing, most of you would say, Oh, I actually thought that too. And I did this test and it wasn't it. Well, you're going to find out what test you really need to do and why most of these tests are inaccurate. Oh, also, those of you who did say, oh, this was in fact the problem. Well, you're going to find out on this episode or podcast why what you did, well, it doesn't work. I've spent 20 years teaching doctors how to do this one thing, get rid of this one thing correctly, because this thing ruined part of what ruined my life for a period of time, has affected me multiple times in my life, and I can tell you, has affected literally millions of people, especially in this country. This one thing is more prominent in this country than any country in the world. Huh. Have you thought about what it is yet? What do you think it is? Why do we have more of this than any country in the world? What are we doing to build buildings? I'm tipping you off here, differently than other countries that are causing this one thing. Well, this one thing is mold. And yep, it can cause everything that I just said. And yep, most people, it goes undetected. You don't see it, you typically don't smell it, especially when you live in the building of the home. And testing is absolutely inaccurate. I'm gonna tell you what test you need to do to know for sure. I'm gonna tell you what you need to do to get rid of it out of your cells because that's where it hides. And I'm gonna tell you that if you do this, your life will change. And I'm also gonna tell you what you need to do in your home to avoid this, because there's some simple things you can do to make sure that you avoid making a mold problem in your
Mold Spores Versus Mycotoxins
Dr Pompa
home. All right, let's start with what I uh really led um this conversation with. And yes, um, mold is a nasty biotoxin. That is a toxin produced by a living thing that is a neurotoxin that gets uh into the brain. It is so toxic. Look, I've talked a lot about plastic, forever chemicals, chemicals that we're spraying on our food like glyphosate. Mold is more deadly than any of them. Did you hear what I just said? Mold is more deadly than I would argue any toxin. I have watched more lives get ruined by mold than any toxin. All right. Mercury, yeah, it was part of what ruined my life as well as mold. And together in a perfect storm, oh man, game over. Because, matter of fact, people that have a lot of mercury or heavy metal accumulation become more even sensitive to mold at a lower level. But the fact is, is mold is deadly. Oh, and by the way, this is important. It's not a mold spore problem. This is not a mold allergy I'm referencing. This is, if you go online and talk about problems, symptoms with mold, they're talk typically talking about people that are exposed to a high level of mold spores, breathing problems, lung problems, sinus problems, right? Yeah, that's typical of what the medical community recognizes as mold illness. Okay, it goes beyond that. Biotoxic illness, meaning the mold spore produces a biotoxin to protect itself. It is like a nuclear weapon. And when this mold starts to take over behind a wall, it produces even more of this bioweapon. And it is the bioweapon, the mycotoxin, aka biotoxin, that is really driving biotoxic illness. It is not the mold spore, which is, by the way, part of the problem with testing because we're testing for the mold spore and not the biotoxin itself. Which, what when I'm going to tell you what test you need to do, it actually detects, I'll use the word detects, the biotoxin more so than the mold spore. So you have to understand there's many different molds. And just because there's a mold spore doesn't make it deadly or harmful to humans. But when certain toxic molds, and there's five or six very toxic molds that we know typically always produce a nasty biotoxin. But when they start to produce these toxins, they're given off. And the biotoxin itself, we don't smell. The mold smell that you smell is actually the decay of the material that it's actually eating, not the biotoxin. It's it's scless and it's deadly, and it is the one causing biotoxic illness. So, what I want you to know is mold problems, we're not talking about a mold allergy. We're talking about something that drives autoimmune conditions, aches and pains, unknowing, massive brain damage, brain inflammation, brain inflammation, brain fog, of course, anxiety, weight gain suddenly, weight gain that doesn't respond to any dietary change. Oh my gosh, even believe it or not, people that take Ozempic, yeah, it's like they literally don't even lose weight sometimes if you're in a mold exposure, or you lose a lot of muscle and connective tissue, have a bad reaction. You get the point, is that this biotoxin massively disrupts your hormones all the way down to the fact that it will stop you from utilizing fat as an energy source. So, many people out there listening to this, weight loss resistance could be one of your signs. What about the fact that your night vision? Um, I'm giving you some symptoms that you know just might trigger something that you do have this problem. You start to lose night vision. How about to the point where you see like halos around lights at night? Okay, well, you might have a biotoxic issue or an AK mold problem uh if that's the case. What about uh frequent urination, especially at night? Oh, it may not just be your prostate, gentlemen. And ladies, it may not be what you think as far as what's driving you to urinate in the middle of the night, meaning, ah, I just drank a lot of tea before bed. Uh maybe not so simple. See, because mold affects a part of your pituitary. That's a gland that sits in your brain. And in the posterior pituitary, there's a hormone called antidiuretic hormone that it affects. Oh, and by the way, I talked about weight gain and the inability to lose weight. In your hypothalamus, another place in the brain, you have receptors to a hormone called leptin. That's the hormone that when you start getting fat, you produce more of it, and it signals that place of the brain that actually helps you control your appetite and burn fat for energy. It's a it's a feedback mechanism via that hormone, communicating with that place of the brain that keeps you lean despite your age, and it works. Leptin keeps you lean. Oh, but if you have a mold issue, these biotoxins could damage that leptin receptor in the brain, and you don't get the message. So you're getting fatter and fatter and fatter, and you're not driving the uh the place in the brain that says, burn that fat, control your appetite. So all your diet failures, your inability to stop eating the bad foods, it's not your fault. It literally can be a hormone problem driven by mold. Yes, it's true. All your hormone problems that you're going to your doctor, your functional medicine doctor, and getting bioidentical hormones, did you know that it could be a mold problem? And that's why your hormone levels, your testosterone levels, gentlemen, could be plummeting because you're in a mold exposure unknowing?
Why US Homes Breed Mold
Dr Pompa
Well, let me ask this question: why is this so prevalent in the United States of America? In my open, I led to the fact that it's the way we're building buildings. If you go to Europe and you're in a 200-year-old building, why don't we have mold issues? It's the way they built them and still build them. But what we're doing in this country is putting paper, which is mold food. It contains cellulose behind walls, drywall. I'm pointing at it, it's all around me. That drywall has paper on it. Whose idea was that anyway? And then we put a gap in a wall with that paper. Oh, and we fill it with insulation, another perfect mold food, and then it gets wet one time. Oh, and if you're lucky enough, it'll show through the wall. And then we cut that moisture out, plaster it over, and we think the problem is solved. Nope, because that moisture went further than what showed on that wall. And now it's feeding mold. And even when humidity rises above 50, it's feeding it even without a leak. And it's taking over and it's producing a biotoxin behind your wall that you never knew was there. And if you air test out here, you'll still never know it's there. It will not work. And if you dust test, it will not work. Okay, the point is that if you have mold in your attic, mold in your wall, mold under your floor, wherever. It can be a lot of different places. You may not know it with by doing a typical way of testing. True
The Mold Dog Finds What Tests Miss
Dr Pompa
story. Good friend of mine, matter of fact, he created Wave Block right here. The only um, I believe it's the only one that actually works to actually help mitigate some of the radiation from a phone. Um, he created that. Him and his family were getting sick in their home, especially him and his wife. And him being a very smart individual, he tested his home, I believe, three times, maybe it was two, but two or three times he tested his home the best ways possible, and his home came up clean. Well, because they were so sick and challenged, they had a nurse coming over their house, giving them a lot of IVs often. And this particular nurse one day said, I think you have a mold problem in your house. She was very sensitive. She sensed it. And he said, No, I tested it. She said, Oh no, that's not how you're gonna find the mold. You need a mold dog. Write that down. Moldpops.com. Okay. A mold dog. And that's what they did. So they brought in a mold dog, and sure enough, they found it. They had major mold in one place in their HVAC where it was compromised. When you have hot and cold meeting each other, guess what it forms? Yeah, moisture, condensation. You ever see your windows sometimes in the the winter, they'll get uh moisture on that's temperature difference outside, inside. But when that happens in your HVAC system or the ducts or anywhere in your house behind a wall, now you have mold. Let me tell you another story. Okay, so fixed the mold, fixed his life, got to the cause. He had the ability to do all of the best biohacks, was doing it all, wasn't getting well. You got to get to the cause. My son bought a four-year-old home and he had it tested every way possible. Spent a lot of money on testing before he bought the home. We had one of our best testers test it clean. Well, I knew there was mold in that home because I didn't feel well when I would go in it. Long story short, he brings the mold dog in. They find mold everywhere. The home is in Tennessee. They didn't insulate and seal the windows and the doors properly. So you had hot, humid air coming in, meaning what? Air conditioned, cold air. Causes bridging and it causes moisture. Where was it? Not where they could see. It was around the windows and it wasn't wet enough they could ever see it coming through, but black mold. And the mold dog found it around all the windows and doors, not done properly. You know, how many homes are not sealed properly? Could you build a home safely using the strategies, although I don't agree with them, that we do today? The answer is yes, but it's very rare because of mistakes, laziness, and a lot of other problems. Like I was talking about just, you know, something that leaks unintentionally, and we have mold food behind the wall. But these areas where homes aren't sealed properly, it happens all the time. Happened to me. Guess how I found it? Gus the mold dog, you know, looked up, find it, yeah, and I had mold in an attic from a board that was put in with mold, and the ventilation of my attic was not two-year-old home, by the way, was not um sufficient enough, and the mold grew and it caused a mold problem. You get the point. It's the way we're building homes. Could they be built right? Yes, but typically there's mistakes, and that's what's making so many families and individuals sick. I tell you, I one of my goals is to bring this message to the world that number one, we have to be very vigilant on um watching how a home is built or detecting it. And by the way, mold dogs are cheaper, way more effective, as I just pointed out, as doing all of the expensive tests anyway. And best the best way to do it is you bring the mold dog in who finds the areas, followed by a building biologist. The guy I use, he travels around the country, um, Jonathan, it's uh JF Healthyhomes.com. Check that, but I think that's it. JFHealthyhomes.com. And it was mold pups, but um they the mold dog comes in, find the areas, and then he went in and he went up in my attic, found the mold, or they go in with a camera behind the wall and they look and then they'll then they'll test. Then maybe they do it swab, maybe they do an air test in the area behind the wall or wherever the problem is. That's the only way that type of testing will work. So mold dog, building biologists, and then testing. That's the correct order. Look, I've done this a long time, and I cannot tell you how frustrated I am in this industry, the way
The Right Order For Real Testing
Dr Pompa
we're building. Listen, we have, and the way we're testing, to finish that thought, we have building materials um that can be used today to seal homes effectively, um, that breathe behind walls. So if it does get wet, it actually dries. We have something called um foam concrete that has an R-value higher than the gap in the insulation. R value is um basically it's how well it insulates. And it is impervious to moisture. So no air gap that can get wet uh in better R value, better insulation. You know, we're going to get there. But until people realize, more people realize, and this is one of my goals, even with this podcast. So please share the podcast. Because if more people realize that they don't feel well, their hormone problems, their sleep problems, their aches, pains, and I can go, I can tell you story after story of how people got their lives back after we got to the mold problem. You know, if I could get enough people to understand that now we create a greater value for builders to say, you know what? I'm going to, there's a greater value. There's more people reaching for healthy homes built right, and I'm going to start doing that. See, that's why people started eating organic, right? Because there started to grow a value in eating organic as people got educated on how damaging these pesticides are. Same thing with gluten. People got, we never even heard of gluten, right? You know, and then people started eating gluten because they started learning that, oh, leaky gut, gluten problems. You know, I could solve a lot of my symptoms if I avoid gluten. Point is, is we have to do the same in this industry. We have to get people to realize that their home is potentially making them sick. And most often, when someone cannot figure it out, all the symptoms that I said, it can be mold. Okay, what do we do?
Detox And The Cellular Danger Response
Dr Pompa
Now, you brought a mold dug in, you find out, you know, or maybe it was even a home you lived in 10, 20 years ago, which, yes, it could still be making you sick for a couple of reasons. Number one, the biotoxins are deep in your tissue, they're in and around your cells. I don't have the time in this podcast to educate you on real detox, but it is a cellular issue. If you go to pompaprogram.com and watch, there's a free training there. I talk about what cellular detox really is, but that's how you get rid of these biotoxins. There's a system that I've been teaching for many, many years because people are sick unknowing that it could have been a house from many years ago still housing biotoxins. Here's the problem. Oftentimes you remain in a cellular danger response, overreacting to small amounts of chemicals and mold. And that is a bad place because you remain sick in that cellular danger response. Now, you can get with the proper, and again, this is stuff that I teach, with the proper therapies you can get out of the cellular danger response. You might still be sensitive to mold, but you live a normal life, a normal energy, normal brain, et cetera. And the weight starts coming off, everything functions well if we can get you out of the cellular danger response. What is cellular danger response is this? A biotoxin for mold is so deadly and dangerous that your body backs up and it wants to protect itself. You go into a cellular danger response when you get a flu or a virus, the body will go into a cellular danger response, maintain its energy, send out signaling molecules that drive inflammation and drive immunity. It's how you get well. But then you get well and you come out of the cellular danger response and all is functioning. And your body's now using energy. It's not sending out signals to drive inflammation in your immune system all as well. But what if you're locked there? See, mold can do that. And even post-COVID, COVID did this to many people. And their body's staying in that cellular danger response as if they're sick, hence the fatigue, the brain fog, anxiety, can't sleep. So there's strategies that we not only just getting the biotoxin out of the cells, but we have to get people out of the cellular danger response. So I hope that helps. But let me open up for some questions because I know my team have questions on this too.
Humidity, HVAC Settings, And Airflow
Dr Pompa
So questions.
SPEAKER_01
Is it possible to have a home without mold if I live in a very humid area?
Dr Pompa
That's a good question. Is it possible to have a home without mold if you live in a very hot, humid area like Nashville, where my son lives, uh Florida, et cetera? Uh the answer is yes. Um, but you have to make sure that it is built correctly, right? Because you can't have these areas of um temperature breaks, right? Where you have uh hot air coming in, cold air, you know, meeting that. So it has to be built correctly. The other big problem is the HVAC. When I go to Florida, um, most places you walk into where you smell mold, it's the HVAC system, the the air heating and air conditioning. Uh in Florida's case, it'd be the air conditioning system. What um the big mistake is people put it on auto. You need to keep it on on all the time. Air has to constantly be circulating, which minimizes that moisture from condensation. A lot of that condensation builds up on the coil. That's the place that gets the thing that gets really cold that makes the air cold that runs over it. But when the HVAC kicks off, because that's what auto does, it reaches temperature, it kicks off. Guess what? Like a glass of cold water. If I put a nice cold glass of water, that's the coil, outside on a summer day, what happens? All the moisture is on the outside of the glass, you see? Cold, hot. That's your coil. Cold, regular air, just like the outside air. So in between, when it's shutting off, you have all the moisture dripping in, even the moisture on the coil itself, mold forms like that. So all of a sudden there's a mold that forms called Aspergillus. It'll form very quickly in those environments. And so keep your fan on on, not auto. Also, they sell devices that you put over your coil. I have one. It's a non-ozone producing UV and also has a um a way of filtering the chemicals out of the air, too. Um mine's called um APOC. It's APOC. Um or is it APOX? My team will have to Google that. I don't even know my own system. Um A P-O-C. Okay. And um that is a great system, uh especially if you live in a hot, humid area. I would install that. So the the the two ways that you get mold is having um areas that aren't sealed in the house. And by the way, you can bring experts in to detect this stuff, I would. And also mold dogs, obviously, and then also preventing the HVAC from getting moldy. Uh, I want to point something out because many of you will say, well, there's mold everywhere. That's right. If I went outside and tested the air right now, there would be a certain amount of mold in the air. But see, it's not producing a biotoxin because it's not threatened. So, but when it comes into a home and starts growing inside a wall, now it's called amplified mold. And if it all feels threatened, you know, which it always does because of other bacteria, it's now producing a biotoxin. That's why they call them toxic mold. So these forms of mold want to produce these biotoxins that make people sick. So outside mold, when it's outside, even Stachybotrus, astropillis outside is very different than when it builds up in your home. Um, so not all molds are very toxic. Not all toxic molds are a threat to you. Um, but when they start growing in your walls, they become a threat to you. Oh, here's the other um an issue. When you get out of a shower, you always want to run a fan because the fan will decrease the humidity levels rapidly, but never more than 30 minutes. And the reason why, if you keep a fan on, like my kids always did, either first of all, I trained them to make sure they ran the fan, which was a big task, then they never turned them off. I suggest you buy a timer if you have children, because make sure that you can set them for 30 minutes, the fan. Because if you keep a fan running all the time, it puts the house under negative pressure. And you don't want a house under negative pressure because it's bringing that hot humid air into your wall space, and then it creates the moisture and the condensation. So you want to make sure fans are turned off. You don't want to keep any fan on in a home, causing your home to be under that negative pressure. There's another device I recommend every house has. In commercial buildings, these are mandatory, but they should be mandatory in regular homes, but they're not. They're called ERVs, energy return or energy uh recovery ventilators. So, what they do is they bring fresh air into your home constantly in stale air out, but they're typically set to put the house under slight positive pressure. So we're not bringing in that hot, humid air. So, or in the winter, cold against hot. So, either way, it's bad, right? We don't want the temperature differences creating the condensation. But this will positively pressurize the house to avoid that. And it brings fresh air into your home and creates circulation, which is another way of preventing mold. Also, the way we're building homes is they trap chemicals inside with new materials and ERVs is a way to get the toxic chemicals out of the home and bring fresh air in. So, yes, you want an ERV system in your home.
Preventing Mold In Appliances
SPEAKER_01
What should I do in my home to prevent mold from growing in places like the dishwasher or washing machine?
Dr Pompa
Two common areas that are in a home that unsuspecting, unknowing to most people grow mold: your dishwasher and your washing machine where you wash your clothes. Why? So, especially front loaders, we'll start with where you wash your clothes. They people just let them close. And what happens is all the moisture is in there. And in and around the drum that's typically plastic parts, mold forms. Here's the problem that mold is in your clothes. I smell people, and I can tell that they have a front loading, moldy dry uh washing machine. So you have to keep the door open. And now the newer ones have something called um tub clean. And you run tub clean once a week where it's super, super hot water, it kills off the mold. I like spraying it with vinegar in there as well between loads. Spray right where the catch is, spray that and spray it in and around the drum. Also, that little detergent where you put the detergent, open that drawer, let air in there so it dries. Because what's happening is mold's building up and then it's getting into your clothes. And here's the problem: you're wearing the clothes, and that mold and biotoxins are going into your system, right through your skin, into your blood system. And you're breathing it all day. Oh, and the uh sheets that you're sleeping in are moldy and you're breathing that in. So make sure that you do what I just said with uh the dryer or the washing machine. Your dishwasher, same principle. After the dishwasher runs, crack it open and let all the moisture out and always let it dry completely before you shut it up. So a lot of people unload it and then they empty it and they close it. It's still wet, leave it open. So good, good question.
Hotel Room Mold Checks And Closing
SPEAKER_01
What do you do when traveling to avoid staying in a moldy hotel room?
Dr Pompa
What do I do traveling to make sure I avoid you know the moldy hotel room? Happens all the time, actually. Um, so one thing is uh my nose is my first sense. I smell, right? A lot of you don't have my nose. You know, I'm like a mold dog. Um, but you know, that is still the first line of defense. What does it smell like? Secondly, always look up to the vents. And if it's black, you know, color, you know, dirty looking, change rooms because typically that's a sign that the HVAC has mold. Here's another trick. Go into the bathroom, lift up the top of the tank, the toilet tank, take that off. If there's black around that, see if there's a high level of mold in the room, what'll happen is it finds moisture. There's always moisture on that tank lid, so that will be black because it will feed from there. So the old tank check, you check your home that way too. So those are the uh the fast ways uh you know to tell if you're in a safe um room or not, or home. All right. Okay, this is a podcast you need to share. I'm telling you, if you have five people randomly you think about in your life right now, I promise you one or two of those five have a mold illness, an a problem driven by a healthy, an unhealthy environment caused by mold, and they don't know it. This episode could change their life. How to test, what to know, what to do. All of it's answered in this podcast. Please, please share it. It's the only way we get the message out. It's the only way we're gonna get the value up for builders to change the way we're building homes in this country, unless people start requesting safe homes. But the only way to request safe homes is to know that you don't have one. Okay, so please share this episode.
